Ch. Ferrière 2020 is rijk van smaak met veel donker fruit in de smaak en aroma's van donkere specerijen, lavendel en fijne tannines. De gedegen frisheid en de fijne tannines maken het plaatje compleet. Ch. Ferrière is een elegante, delicate Margaux, die heel veel materie heeft met een frisse balans op het einde.

Ferrière 2020 is fabulous. The tannins are bruising today, so readers will have to be patient, but all the ingredients are there for the 2020 to be superb. There is a feeling of unrestrained wildness in the Ferrière that is hugely appealing.

Chateau Ferrière (18ha) is na Chateau Pouget één van de kleinste Gr. Cru Classés van het klassement 1855.
Het terroir, gelegen in Margaux, is sinds 1988 in handen van de familie Villars-Merlaut en het is Claire Villars (tevens eigenaar van Ch. Haut Bages Libéral), die getrouwd is met Gonzague Lurton (Ch. Durfort Vivens), die er de wijn vinifieerd. Sinds 2013 is een nieuwe cuverie in dienst en sinds millésime 2015 is de wijn bio-gecertificeerd. Ch. Ferrière is geen zware wijn, maar wel zeer elegant en indrukwekkend fruitig.
Claire Lurton:
Though she was born into a wine growers' family, Claire Villars Lurton did not intend to manage a property. She lived in Paris where she had a master's degree in chemistry and physics. She was preparing a thesis in physics dealing with the preservation of old books at the CNRS (NATIONAL CENTER FOR SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH) when her parents died in an accident in 1992. She decided to get actively involved in the management of the family properties. She gave up her studies and joined her grandfather Jacques Merlaut to continue the work of her mother Bernadette Villars Merlaut.
